About

Anna Valieva is a Ukrainian contemporary artist, born in 1984 in Kyiv, Ukraine, into a family of a sculptor. She graduated from the Taras Shevchenko State Art School in 2002 and continued her studies at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, where she specialized in monumental painting under the guidance of N.A. Storozhenko, graduating in 2008.

Valieva’s artistic language was formed through extensive experimentation with materials such as canvas, charcoal, oil, metal, and synthetic elements. She developed a distinctive technique incorporating polyester padding and enamel, creating textured, multi-layered surfaces that bridge painting and object. Her practice explores themes of memory, time, transformation, and the fluid relationship between past and future.

Her works often depict blurred, semi-abstract figures and symbolic imagery, reflecting the instability of memory and the emotional traces of human experience.

Since 2006, she has been a recipient of scholarships from the National Academy and the Natalya and Ernest Gulak Foundation. In 2008, she became a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and was awarded a prize by the Mayor of Kyiv for her contribution to the cultural development of the city.
